Big Cat Habitat and Gulf Coast Sanctuary

Today my grandmother, aunt, mom, and I took Raul to the Big Cat Habitat and Gulf Coast Sanctuary in Sarasota. It was much hotter than we thought it was supposed to be, so Raul was a bit uncomfortable, but liked seeing the animals. This place rescues animals from  zoos, private owners, and others who can no longer care for their exotic animals. The family has been doing this work for ten generations now, and even the young children are involved. Some of their animals have even been in movies and commercials! We saw a training demonstration with a dog, a chimp, and a lion/2 white tigers/a liger (half lion half tiger). Raul fell asleep during the show because he was tired and hot, but all us adults really enjoyed it! He is a funny boy, we took him to an exotic animal sanctuary and his favorite animals were the goats! One lady let him feed the goats popcorn out of his hand, which gave him a huge smile!

We made it!

After a day delay due to the lock down in our hometown (Watertown), we are in Florida! I will write a post about our day in lock down later; our internet is limited right now. We got in yesterday afternoon, and spent time playing at my grandparents house and the neighbors' apartment next door where Raul and I are staying to have some extra room. Raul is very happy to be here!

 

Binkeez for Comfort

A few days ago Raul received his blanket from Binkeez for Comfort. They are a wonderful non-profit that provides comforting blankets to seriously ill children and adults! As you can see, Raul loves his soft new blanket!

Fun In The Sun

Thank you so much to our friends for the clothes and surprises for Raul! He was very excited to open the box, and went crazy over the truck and car! I was able to hide the books so that we can use them for travel when we go to Florida soon! Then we decided to put on a new summer outfit and go outside to play, for the second time, because it is so nice out today. We did bubbles, colored with chalk, and played lots and lots with his new tuck/car! A few other families were outside this afternoon, and when one baby came over to say hi, Raul made sure to tell them that I was his "mama".

A Sunny Monday

This morning we took what turned out to be an unnecessary trip to U.S. Immigration in Boston. We thought we needed a form they had to renew his Humanitarian Parole, but we don't actually need it. Then we decided to get his first haircut of the Spring/Summer. He wasn't thrilled about that, but his head will be much cooler now! An amazing amount of hair came off his head! After nap time we went to play outside for a little while. There were a few other families out with little kids, but Raul wasn't very interested in them. He did like the tricycle that one little boy had, though!

 This first video is from last weekend. The exhibit in the chicken house had buttons to push to hear chicken calls from around the world, and one of them was Romania!
